Rewarewa is an evergreen tree endemic to the North Island and the Marlborough Sounds, thriving in valley and coastal forests. Flowering trees can reach up to 30 metres in height, producing abundant nectar that results in a honey prized for its colour, flavour, and depth.
Once known to early European settlers as New Zealand honeysuckle, Rewarewa is now widely recognised by its Māori name and valued as a distinctive native floral source.
