Mountain Gold Manuka Honey Contains UMF 5+ /methylglyoxal 100+ activity.
UMF™ (Unique Manuka Factor) is a quality mark with a trusted standard.

Every batch of UMF™ Mountain Gold Manuka Honey undergoes testing and must pass the standard for us to be able to display the UMF logo on our pots. This mark is independently monitored for quality, purity and authenticity by the UMF® Honey Association (UMFHA). The UMF® number indicates the level of the unique Manuka properties within the honey. As well as regular monitoring, the UMFHA also conducts random sampling to ensure Manuka honey carrying the UMF® mark is true to label.

Only the UMF® testing process measures all three signature compounds, Methylglyoxal, DHA, and Leptosperin. These together indicate the purity, quality, and test for authentic, Manuka honey.

Methylglyoxal (MG) is one of the key components naturally occurring in New Zealand Manuka Honey. It is found in high levels in Manuka Honey (at least 50mg/kg) but in only low levels in other honeys (only 0-5 mg/kg).

Kamahi Honey: Kāmahi (Weinmannia racemosa), is an evergreen small shrub to medium-sized tree. It is the most abundant forest tree in New Zealand, occurring in lowland, montane, and subalpine forests and shrubland from the central North Island south to Stewart Island. Kāmahi bears racemes of small, pink or white flowers from July to January. An intense strong, complex, flavour sensation. Perfect for adding to recipes. Pale and beautifully buttery golden in colour. It's a fabulous honey to go with cheeses.

Tawari Honey: The Tawari (Ixerba brexioides)tree grows up to around 15 metres(50 feet) in height and when flowering is a beautiful sight with very symmetricalformed flower bunches contrasting against a dark green backdrop of similarly arranged leaves. Maori people used the flowers for necklaces and adornment during festive occasions. Tawari flowers from October to the end of December. The honey is a light colour with a beautiful taste reminiscent of butterscotch. Our naturally creamed Tawari honey from the Kaimai Ranges won the peoples choice award at the NZ National Apiculture Conference in 2023.
